Conflux Percussion is an independent percussion ensemble based out of Jacksonville, Florida. Our membership is comprised of young percussionists aged 14-22 and we compete in the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit. (FFCC) Here at Conflux our goal is to offer something different. To be an alternative to norm. We focus on music and developing a professional work ethic and to allow our students to grow and succeed in all facets of their lives even after leaving our ensemble.
What can I audition for and what should I bring to auditions?
Conflux auditions for all positions in battery including: Snares, Tenors, Bass, Cymbals, Flubs (toms) and Front Ensemble including: Marimba, Vibes, Xylo, Glock, Chimes, Timpani, Drum Set, Bass Guitar, Synth, and Aux/Rack. Some equipment will be provided, though bringing your own is a good idea. The audition packets should be downloaded and learned before you come to auditions. You will be expected to have a binder with sheet protectors for all Conflux materials (music and drill) throughout the season. Bring your sticks/pad/mallets, an open mind and most importantly, a great attitude.
What are the age requirements?
Anyone who is 22 or younger through April 1st of that competitive season is eligible to join Conflux Percussion or any other independent percussion ensemble.
Can I join if I am still in high school?
Yes! If your current high school does not have a competitive scholastic indoor program, you are welcome to audition for a spot. If your high school currently has a program, you are still welcome to attend auditions to gain more experience.
What are the dues for Conflux Percussion?
Dues will be membership based and will be announced after auditions.
What is the rehearsal and performance schedule for the season?
Please refer to the official schedule for exact dates. Make sure you are keeping up with the website and the Facebook for all information. Everyone has a schedule they need to work around. You must contact Mike Rippstein if you feel that you cannot make a scheduled date at least two weeks in advance. Only family emergencies and grade-dependent concerts are excusable absences. Our staff makes the commitment to be with you on these dates and we expect you do the same.
Can I still march drum corps?
Yes, but keep in mind that you are choosing to participate in Conflux Percussion. Our dates will be mandatory and you will need to communicate these dates and performances with your corps director. We encourage you to partake in all forms of performing but please respect your commitment and your teammates. We all make sacrifices to be here, and expect you to do the same.
Can my family get involved?
Of course! We would love to put your family members to work! Our parents do a fantastic job of taking care of us on show days. Let us know if you have a parent or family member that would be interested in helping out.
